Things My Kids are Grateful For…

Last night, while tucking in to leftover Thanksgiving turkey on rolls, I asked the kids to name three things they are grateful for. Zack immediately said, “Ok, I’m grateful for you, Daddy and Zoe.” (Poor Seth and Sarah got shafted.) Then Seth said, “TV, my family and DS.” Sarah, ever more mature, said, “Family, books and education.” Zack added to his list with electricity, family and video games. Seth added the Wii. Sarah agreed with Zack on electricity and then said, “I’m grateful for plants because without them we wouldn’t be able to breathe.”

Happy Day After Thanksgiving all. I hope that your list of things you’re grateful for goes on and on.

Here’s Sarah checking her email on my desktop now located in the front room I have claimed for my office. She uses the excuse of checking email to go watch the same videos on youtube over and over again. She has to ask permission to click on anything else. You can never be too careful with the internet… only takes one wrong click to fill the mind with crap that can never really be cleaned out.

Here are the boys getting Zoe started early on Nintendo DS and Kirby Super Star Ultra. She had just gotten up from a nap, so she was perfectly content to lie there and be indoctrinated. The Cowboys game was on, so she alternated from watching the TV and the DS while Josh crashed on the couch… missed most of the game, but after being up for 30 or so straight hours, you can’t blame him. Unfortunately, I love my marriage so cannot post any of the pictures I took of him sleeping.

We are hanging out at home today deliberately ignoring that it is Black Friday. We might venture out if the kids ever get tired of playing Paper Mario (Nintendo 64 version) that Zack spent $10 to buy online with the Wii.  Josh cannot understand why we all love the storybook video games. He has no patience for them, but I’m giddy because Seth is now able to read along with us. That’s progress! We started with Paper Mario the Thousand Year Door for Game Cube and then Super Paper Mario for the Wii, and now we’re back to the original one that was created before the kids were even born. They don’t even know what a Nintendo 64 game console is… I wonder if my little brothers (11 and 12 years younger than me) still have theirs. They probably still play it.

  3. Oh Miss Sarah! What are we going to do. You are growing up! 12 is such a special age for kids in the church. It’s like a right of passage to bigger and better things. I am so happy that you are who you are. Your amazing with all of your talents. Keep up the greatness, and you will go far. I love you!

  4. Thanks Ladies for your good wishes for my preteen! I will give her your messages. She is going to attend mutual for the first time tonight! I think her leaders are awesome so I hope she transitions well. She is excited. I’m glad that she doesn’t have to wait months to be in both Primary and YW on Sundays. I still can’t believe she used to hang out in a sac in my belly. Where does the time go??
