Safe Haven
We made it to Port Aransas! Just wanted to letch’all know. Took us a couple hours longer than usual, but the drive was pleasant and traffic surprisingly light. The heavy traffic was heading toward Houston (probably poor saps who are unaware that the city is basically shut down… don’t go back yet!) We left Humble because the power is out and we don’t have a generator. What we do have is little kids who are dumbfounded that the Wii doesn’t work or that they can’t recharge the DS or SP. We would have been sorry pioneers.
The missionaries and other LDS Church Members came by today and helped us put tarps over the two open places on our roof where the shingles were blown off by Hurricane Ike. There’s water in our attic, but it’s over the garage, so it will have to be fixed, but not unlivable. Even though a cold front came in last night and it was SO nice not to sweat in our sleep, we decided to clean out the fridge and head to Josh’s parents house… a safe haven from the storm in more ways than one… and for more times than one.
The Cowboys are on and I’m in Cowboy country… so I gotta go.
