Watermelon Puppy

Watermelon Puppy
Current mood: good

We are doggysitting Chandia (means “watermelon” in Chamorro). She’s a cute little puppy with bulging eyeballs who belongs to my cousin Karl’s girlfriend Jessielene. (Can’t remember what kine puppy so I’ll post a picture of her.) Karl and Jess live about 25 minutes away from us and we hang out occassionally to play Blockus. Due to unfortunate events, they went home to Guam and needed a doggysitter, and because it’s spring break and all my kids are home, they are able to take care of her.

Sarah spent almost the entire day in the garage with Chandia. (The house is only for creatures with two legs or less — so the oscar and catfish are OK.) In the morning before it started raining, she took her outside and went for walks up and down our street. So when the thunderstorm hit, Sarah and puppy stayed in the garage. All day. She’s trying to prove that she can take care of a dog because she wants us to get her one… this is training for her.

Zack and Seth like the puppy, too, and they were in and out of the garage a lot today, but Zack loves the Game Cube more so he got his fill of Super Smash Bros. today. I imagine it’s nice when you’re kid brother is preoccupied with a puppy so that you can have the best controller and advance in the game to unlock more stuff.

Seth interrupted me from working less than usual. Having other people to talk to and play with helps. He gets away with having more treats, too, because I don’t want him to keep pestering me, so I just keep saying, “Sure, go ahead.” Poptart? Sure! Cookies? Sure! Cereal? Why not!? Go for it.

I am happy to say that I met my deadline today… my kids are all unbalanced in what they need in the way of nourishment and attention, but I got the job done! The rest is easy stuff that doesn’t take me very long to do so I’ll be able to make it up to them in the next couple of days.

Hopefully, the weather will be better. I invited some friends from down the street to come over and see the puppy. They are a family of four kids close in age to my three with a cute little baby girl who is a year and a half old. It will be fun to see how they like Chandia, and it will give the puppy some new faces to look at.

Gotta go now. Blog ya later.

Side note: I read the Bridge to Terabithia yesterday and it was not what I was expecting at all. Aside from the constant taking the Lord’s name in vain, it was a very good book. I did not expect to be bawling, but I totally did… I’m not ashamed to admit it. I love it when books do that and it has nothing to do with your monthly cycle. Great book! We’re taking the kids to see it on Saturday.
